What does the reduction gearbox on a gyroplane do?
A gear reduction between the engine's crankshaft and the propeller shaft, so the propeller turns at a fraction of engine speed. Without it, a propeller spinning at typical Rotax redline would have supersonic tip speeds. It is built into the engine case on every Rotax variant used in this fleet, not a separate add-on unit.
