Accessibility statement
What we have built in, what still falls short, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
Our commitment
Gyrocopters.com is built so that people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control and reduced-motion settings can use the whole site. That work lives in the markup, not in a widget bolted on top of it.
Conformance status
We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA.
Current status: partially conformant. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not yet. We will not describe this site as fully conformant until an independent audit says so, and we will publish the date and scope of that audit here when it happens.
What we have built in
- A single H1 per page and heading levels that descend in order without skipping.
- Landmark regions: banner, navigation, main, and contentinfo.
- A skip link to main content as the first focusable element.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element, drawn in two tones so they survive on light and dark backgrounds.
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels throughout, including the bottom navigation bar.
- Body text contrast of at least 4.5:1 and interface component contrast of at least 3:1 in the default theme.
- Status meaning conveyed by text as well as colour, so a sold aircraft reads as sold rather than merely appearing red.
- Full keyboard operation of the navigation menu, including Escape to close and focus returning to the trigger.
- Respect for the operating system reduced-motion preference without any action from the user.
- Layout that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 CSS pixels, and remains usable at 200% text zoom.
- Forms that work without JavaScript, with every control carrying a programmatic label.
Known gaps we are working on
These are the areas we know fall short today. Listing them is the point of this page.
| Area | Issue | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Seller photographs | Alternative text on listing images is supplied by sellers and varies in quality. Some is generic. | Alt text is required at publish. Retrospective review of older listings is ongoing. |
| Translated pages | Machine-translated content does not carry a correct lang attribute per translated block, so a screen reader may read it with the wrong pronunciation rules. | A limitation of the third-party translation widget. Tracked; see the translation note below. |
| Seller-supplied descriptions | Description HTML can contain heading levels that do not follow the page order. | Sanitising and heading normalisation on submission is planned. |
| Readable font option | The dyslexia-friendly font falls back to a system face until the licensed font files are self-hosted. | Font files to be added. Letter and word spacing adjustments already apply. |
Translation and language
The language switch uses machine translation. It is genuinely useful for getting the gist of a page, and it is not a substitute for a reviewed translation. Aircraft specifications, safety content and legal pages are written in English and should be read in English where accuracy matters. The translation service is only contacted once you actively choose a language, so no third-party request is made on your behalf otherwise.
Assessment approach
By self-assessment during development, not by a third-party audit. We test keyboard-only operation, reflow at 320 pixels and at 200 percent text size, colour contrast against the actual rendered pixels rather than the declared values, and the site with JavaScript disabled. That is honest testing, and it is not the same thing as an independent audit. We have not commissioned one, and we do not claim conformance on the strength of our own checks.
Telling us about a problem
If something here blocks you, tell us and we will fix it. Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using.

Enforcement and escalation
If our response does not resolve it, the route depends on where you are. In the United States, complaints about a place of public accommodation may be filed with the Department of Justice under the Americans with Disabilities Act. In the United Kingdom, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can advise. In the EU, the national body designated under the Web Accessibility Directive handles complaints in your country.
