Privacy and your data

What this site collects, why, and what it deliberately does not keep.

Who controls your data

AAERO LLC operates Gyrocopters.com. Write to us at:

610 Jerry Street Suite 200 Castle Rock, Colorado 80134 USA

Privacy requests go to the postal address above. Put "privacy request" on the envelope so it reaches the right person.

What this site collects

When you browse

The web server records standard request logs: the page requested, the time, the response status, the browser user agent, and the IP address the request came from. These logs exist to keep the service running and to investigate abuse. The lawful basis is legitimate interest.

When you contact a seller

A listing enquiry stores your name, your email address, and your message, so the seller can reply to you. Your IP address is not stored in raw form. It is hashed with a secret application value before it is written, which lets us rate-limit abuse without retaining an identifier we can reverse. The lawful basis is performance of the service you asked for.

When you leave for another site

Following a link to a manufacturer, a school, an instructor or a source we have cited records a single row: the address you went to, the page you left from, what kind of link it was, and the date. It tells us which entries in the directories are worth anything to the people listed in them, and which links have gone dead.

Nothing in that row identifies you. No IP address, no browser information, no account, no cookie, and no visitor identifier of any kind. The date is stored rather than the time, because a precise time plus a destination starts to become identifying on a site this size. The record cannot be traced back to a person, and there is no mechanism here for following anybody from one page to the next. The lawful basis is legitimate interest.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track header, nothing is recorded at all.

Display preferences

Contrast, text size, font and motion choices are stored in your browser's local storage under the key gyro.preferences.v1. That data never leaves your device and is never sent to our server. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Translation

The language switch uses Google's website translation service. Nothing is requested from Google until you actively pick a language. When you do, your browser contacts Google directly, Google receives the page content being translated along with your IP address, and it sets a cookie named googtrans recording your language choice. That processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours. Choosing English again removes the preference.

Cookies and browser storage

We set no analytics or advertising cookies. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to: every cookie listed above is required for the site to work, and none of them track you across other sites. If that changes, this table changes with it and a consent mechanism appears before any new cookie is set.

Who we share data with

Listing enquiries are passed to the seller you contacted. Our hosting provider processes data on our behalf as part of running the servers. Our hosting provider, who stores the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement, and Google, if and only if you use the translation feature. Nobody else. Enquiries you send through the site reach the seller or school you addressed them to, and go nowhere further.

We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

Server request logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Enquiries and listing submissions are kept for two years from the last message in the thread, which covers the length of a typical sale and any dispute that follows it. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Your rights over your data

If you are in the UK, the EU or the EEA, you have the right to access a copy of your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address above. You can also complain to your national supervisory authority. We are established in the United States, so there is no single EU authority with default jurisdiction over us; visitors in the EU may complain to the authority in their own country, and Dutch visitors may complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

International transfers

Using the translation feature sends page content to Google, which may process it outside the EEA. That transfer happens only when you choose a language, and it is the only one this site initiates. If you would rather it did not happen at all, do not use the translation control: the site works without it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes and the previous version is retained in our version control.
