Gyroplane Association

A voice for gyroplane pilots, instructors, schools and the people who build these aircraft. It is being founded now, and the people who join first are its founding members.

Become a founding member

The people who join now are the association's founding members. We are not charging for membership yet, so the prices below are the founding rates, held for the people who sign up before it opens. Register now to claim your founding place: no obligation, and nothing to pay today.

Everything on this site is free today and the free parts stay free: the directories, the ground school, the quiz, the glossary and listing an aircraft for sale. Membership funds them rather than gating them.

Why an association

Gyroplanes sit awkwardly in almost every rulebook. Regulations for light aircraft are drafted with aeroplanes and helicopters in view, and this category tends to inherit whatever falls out of that. A handful of people notice in time to comment. Usually nobody does.

An association is how a small category gets read into the record: by following what is proposed, explaining what it would actually mean for the people flying these machines, and answering when an answer is invited. That work does not need software to begin, and it is what the money funds first.

Speak for gyroplane operators

Rulemaking that affects light aircraft is usually written with aeroplanes and helicopters in mind, and gyroplanes get whatever falls out. When a proposal touches this category we intend to read it, say plainly what it would mean, and respond where a response is invited.

Track legislation and rule changes

Airworthiness directives, category and weight limits, medical and certificate rules, airspace changes. We will follow what changes for gyroplane pilots and owners, cite the actual document every time, and say when we are not sure rather than guessing.

Grow the sport honestly

More pilots, more instructors, more aircraft flying. That means being useful to somebody deciding whether to start, which is why the directories, the ground school and the reference material stay free whether you join or not.

A members forum worth reading

not built yet

A place to talk about ownership, maintenance, rule changes and what is actually flying, without the noise of a public group. Members only, moderated, and not built yet.

New aircraft and equipment, covered properly

not built yet

What manufacturers are releasing, described from sourced specifications rather than press releases, with members seeing it first. Not built yet.

How this association is run

It is a commercial association operated by AAERO LLC, run for profit. There is no governing board and no members' vote. Members are customers, not shareholders or voting members of a society.

We say this plainly because the word "association" usually means the other thing: a nonprofit with elected officers and a ballot at an annual meeting. If that is what you are looking for, this is not it, and you should know that before you pay rather than afterwards.

What members do get is consultation. When the association is about to take a public position we intend to ask members what they think first, and to say so when the position taken differs from what they told us. That is influence, and it is worth something. It is not a vote, and we will not call it one.

Founding Partners

A limited number of founding places, each carrying a seat on the Board of Advisory.

  • A seat on the Board of Advisory not built yet
  • Named as a Founding Partner on the association page not built yet
  • Everything in the Manufacturer tier not built yet

Not included: Control. The Board of Advisory advises and has no binding authority over AAERO LLC. It cannot direct editorial coverage, cannot influence where an aircraft appears in a comparison, and cannot overturn a certificate or approval check.

Terms for Founding Partners are not settled yet, so there is no price here. Ask, and we will tell you where it has got to.

Ask about a founding place

What money cannot buy here

Verification is not a membership benefit at any tier. When an instructor shows "certificate checked" it means a person looked their certificate up in the FAA Airmen Inquiry, and when a school shows "approval confirmed" it means somebody contacted the issuing authority. Those checks happen the same way for members and non-members, and paying changes nothing about them.

Nor does membership buy editorial position. Where an aircraft appears in a comparison, or a school in a directory, is an editorial judgement. If we ever sell placement it will be labelled as paid everywhere it appears and the editorial policy will say so in the same breath.

A seat on the Board of Advisory does not change either of those. The board advises; it holds no authority over the company, cannot direct what gets covered, and cannot overturn a certificate or approval check. A Founding Partner whose aircraft fails a check gets the same answer as anyone else.

Benefits marked "not built yet" do not exist today. They are listed so you can see what the money is for, not so you think you are getting them now. The forum, the member profiles and the briefing service are all in that category.

What can start immediately is the advocacy, because that is work rather than software. If you would rather wait until the rest is built, wait: the directories, the ground school, the quiz and the glossary are free and will stay free either way.
