ELA Aviacion

ELA Aviacion builds gyroplanes at Fuente Obejuna, in the province of Cordoba in southern Spain. Its history page dates the move: "ELA AVIACION definitively moves to Fuente Obejuna (Cordoba) in 2005", after an earlier period at Casarrubios del Monte. The company traces itself to Emilio Lopez Alemany's composite aircraft work, and to 1996, when - in the page's words - "Emilio manages to build his first motorized autogyro, the ELA-03" and decides "along with his wife Rita Nieves, a partner and co-founder, to create ELA Aviacion". The two-seat ELA-04 followed in 1998 and the ELA-07 in 2002, alongside a partnership with Rotax.

The current published range is split into two lines. Business Class holds the ELA 10-Eclipse and the Eclipse EVO, the enclosed machines ELA presents on design and equipment - high tail, heated seats, fuel check window, engine monitoring. Sport Line holds the Cougar and the Scorpion, which ELA describes as carrying "the sportive spirit of the 07 range". ELA states that the Cougar set distance and speed records for a non-stop flight in the light gyroplane category, and that its aircraft are certified in Germany, Spain and France.

There is less data below than for the other manufacturers on this site, and the reason is worth knowing. ELA prints only two or three headline figures on each model page and puts the full specification table in a PDF download. This site records what the manufacturer publishes on the page. So there is no empty mass, maximum take-off mass, rotor diameter, length or height for any ELA model here - not because the aircraft lack them, but because ELA does not state them where this record was taken.
